Here's an image that came to mind of the kind of art project this envisions: humanity collaboratively building a Space Elevator (or similar very challenging megaproject that employs millions of people from all over the world long-term). Kids getting shown this in VR simulations in classrooms all over the world as an example of the future of mankind among the stars, and able to contribute e.g. drawings that will be placed on parts of the structure. Countries even that fight each other collaborating in this because art knows no boundaries. Pride that someone in your family is participating in this.
And there have to be many kinds of such projects. SETI@Home or Folding@Home are cool examples too. We have to create many projects that are global rather than purely local in order to thread everyone together across the boundaries of nations and cultures.
